Congrats to 18 Black on an amazing run in the 18 Open at AAU Nationals in Orlando, FL! The team played a whopping 15 matches in four days! The team came in as the 12th seed overall. On Day 1 of the tournament, the team went 3-1, with their loss coming to 13th ranked DFFO out of Michigan. Day 2, the team went 2-1, taking first in the pool and taking over the 6th seed overall. Day 3 was a brutal day of competition, as they took 1st in their pool with wins over Front Range and Alliance. The team then topped AZ Revolution with a 15-10 win in the third set for their crossover match and the opportunity to advance to the Quarter Finals. With their fourth match that day, the team faced Northern Lights, and lost in the quarters. However, in the final day of competition, the team needed 3 wins to take 5th place overall, and the team powered through Sky High, Nebraska Jrs, and A5 without dropping a set! After all of that, the 18 Open top finishers had a crossever match with the International division. We faced Peru, and lost a heart breaker 15-17 in the third set. The team left it all out there on the court and we couldn't be prouder of them!
Setter, Taylor Tashima, was selected as an AAU All-American! Congrats to the entire team!
